This new 23,570 sf, 3-story, steel-framed community center adjacent to the MTA-7 line provides an expansive auditorium, administrative and teaching space, open working areas, a commercial kitchen, and an outdoor lounge.
A combination of cement panels, curtain wall, and EIFS, the distinctly simple façade stands out in the busy streetscape of Roosevelt Avenue. Because of the extremely close proximity of the adjacent elevated number 7 subway line, crane access was limited, and major steel beams had to be erected by hand.

One of the unique interior features is a large skylight that bathes the more private office areas in abundant natural light. This element required detailed coordination and careful installation to match the architect’s vision.

The project won an 2021 AIANY Design Award.
